The delicious chalet meals are served in the spacious dining room on the first floor with a log fire and panoramic views and balconies on 3 sides. All the bedrooms have full ensuite facilities (toilet, shower or bath, basin) and have been renovated to a very high standard, with top-quality fittings and furniture throughout. Outside the chalet there is an 8 person hot-tub, commanding great views across the Tarentaise valley to the Beaufortain. There is plenty of car-free playing space in and around Courbaton and plenty for children to explore.
About Courbaton: The village gave its name to the ski area that preceded Les Arcs - Courbaton 1750. There were several lifts and pistes, starting at Les Granges and reaching the top of the Deux Tetes mountain, now the summit of the Mont Blanc chairlift. But Courbaton's history goes back even further, having been developed from a farming hamlet in the 1950s to provide accommodation for workers building the huge Tignes-Malgovert hydroelectric scheme. When this was completed it became a winter and summer holiday resort for employees of EDF (Electricité de France) before passing into private hands about 10 years ago. Since then the main buildings have been carefully converted into high-quality chalets and apartments. Read more on the Arcade blog.
Why L'Aiguille Grive? Literally 'Thrush Peak' - the name of the mountain dominating the southern part of the Les Arcs ski area, altitude 2760m.
